Affirmative Action has been specifically incorporated into the business plan of MHP and necessary steps are being taken to ensure it enjoys the same status in practice. MHP recognises that affirmative action will contribute to South Africa's long term prospects for socio-economic stability and have resolved to create an affirmative action culture in MHP that will foster trust with its employees, at the same time maintaining a competitive advantage.

MHP has not interpreted affirmative action as the lowering of standards and does not associate itself with the culture of tokenism. In order to maintain a competitive advantage MHP's Affirmative Action Policy (AAP) for recruitment of staff is based on merit and the notion that previously disadvantaged persons can, with training, within a reasonable time, achieve the required standard.

MHP has demonstrated its AAP further by embarking on the creation of a new Previously Disadvantaged Employee (PDAE) Trust, which will acquire a defined shareholding in the MHP Geomatics (Pty) Ltd company.
