Engineering and Topographical Surveys

MHP has built a reputation in the Engineering Survey Market of delivering the right product on time at the right price. MHP thus prides itself in actively participating in a technological culture. MHP was one of the first firms in the RSA to acquire GPS equipment. MHP took this bold step on the basis that GPS would speed up the execution of engineering and topographical work. MHP has realised this assumption and thus continuously facilitates quicker delivery at lower cost to MHP's clients, with no compromise on quality.

There are now six first order GPS sets (four Trimble and two Leica), spread amongst the 4 offices.

Our services inter alia include:

  • Staking and Cross-section surveys;
  • Profile surveys for powerline and water pipeline positioning
  • Digital Terrain Model (DTM) strip surveys using a combination of GPS survey, Photogrammetry and total station technology, for design purposes. In the last years MHP have undertaken approximately 300km of strip surveys for the National Roads Agency and strip surveys of approximately 500km for the Ethiopian Road Agency. Locally in the RSA and surrounding countries MHP has undertaken many thousands of kilometres of strip surveys;
  • Capture of manhole attributes including position and invert level for various metropolitan authorities;
  • Bridge site surveys and the survey of other structures
  • Detailed topographical surveys using GPS/total station and/or a combination of photogrammetric technology.
MHP's clients include most of the Consulting Engineers currently active in the Southern African Region, Eskom, the National Road Agency, the Department of Water Affairs and other Provincial Departments.
