Industrial and Petro-Chemical Surveys

MHP, over the past fifteen years, has developed survey techniques that repeatedly achieve tolerances of 0.1mm. With the use of appropriate technology and equipment the following main tasks are covered:

  • Plumbing of tall vessels and towers into vertical position (±5mm tolerances);
  • Shimming of concrete bases for heat exchanges, compressors, drums, etc. (±0.5mm tolerances);
  • As built determination of pipe networks and related service infrastructure;
  • Precise positioning of mechanical equipment within defined tolerances.
  • Precise alignment of rollers (±0.1mm tolerances);
  • Precise positioning of machinery within defined tolerances.

MHP's most noteworthy participation in this aspect of survey is demonstrated by past and present involvement in:

  • Hillside Aluminium Smelter - Richards' Bay, RSA
  • Mozal Aluminium Smelter - Maputo, Moçambique
  • Genref and Sapref Refineries - Durban, RSA
  • Hulett Aluminium Expansion Project - Pietermaritzburg, RSA
