Daimler (Mercedes Benz) South Africa are currently undertaking significant extensions and upgrades to their current plant in East London. A number of the assembly and workshop warehouses are being extended during the programme. The warehouses vary in age of original construction though some date back as far as the 1950’s and contain wooden elements in the structural design. Over the years there have been numerous upgrades and installations within the warehouses – some of which have been documented on CAD drawings and some which is undocumented. Daimler required a 3D BIM (Building Information Model) for two of their warehouses totalling 75’000sqm which detailed all the major architectural, structural and MEP components of the buildings.
SCOPE OF WORK
- Undertake high resolution Laser Scans of the warehouses during assembly shutdown.
- Register Laser Scan data to current site drawing system.
- Extract the following features into REVIT models and libraries:
- Convert REVIT models in IFC format for client use.
- Laser Scanning
- Engineering Surveying
