Reports:

  1. Report on Phase 1 of the Implementation of GIS at Amajuba District Municipality Amajuba, as a new municipality emanating from the re-demarcation of South Africa in 2000, required a GIS to be implemented as a tool for its business, in particular for Development Planning. The project comprised, in logical sequence, a extensive user requirement analysis, a data acquisition phase, data audit phase, gap analysis, data clean and re-projection, and a data documentation phase. In addition, basic GIS desktop applications were developed in order to deliver GIS to the desktops of key users within Amajuba. Policy issues were also dealt with as part of the study.

  2. Report on the Data Capture and Verification Audit of Ilembe District Municipality Ilembe, like many organisations worldwide, realised that while their GIS data was relatively good for general map-making and background information on its area of jurisdiction, it lacked completeness, accuracy and currency. This project involved the GPS capture of over 3500 features on the ground in 28 categories ranging from boreholes to schools to tourism assets. Detailed attribute information was captured for each feature as well as a digital photograph taken. All the data was published on the internet in a live GIS web page. Have a look at http://www.ilembe.org.za and follow the GIS links to the GIS viewer.
